What We Do

Our Work

LRF works with human rights activists, non-governmental organisation (NGOs) and government, as well as international governmental organisation such as the United Nations. (UNHCR) etc. Working with civil society is central to LRF programme activities and it actively supports the greater involvement of civil society in human rights and law reform. LRF has a consultative Status with the Human Rights Commission as regards Human Rights Monitoring in Prisons, Access to Bail and police Bond, Universal Periodic Review (UPR), as well as internationally e.g the Promotion of the African Court on Human and People’s Rights.

Although LRF works in partnership with government, it only seeks and accepts funds from governments to undertake work in accordance with its agreed programme. As an independent NGO, LRF does not accept any funds from government which threaten its autonomy or require it to depart from the mandate or programme of work. LRF works to develop and promote human rights.
